Community Meetings

The Coalition for Public Schools is hosting a series of meetings across the state to discuss the value of public education and to talk about ways that communities can get involved to support public schools. Attendees are encouraged to support their neighborhood public schools both in their community and with local and statewide advocacy.  The current meeting schedule, descriptions and registration links are below.  These will be updated as more meetings are added.

January 23, 2017 – Legislative Symposium

capitold_1024This Legislative Symposium will feature both a national and a statewide panel with distinguished guests discussing vouchers and voucher-type programs across the US and the State of Texas.  Confirmed guests are Dr. Luis Huerta (Columbia University), Dr. Julie Mead (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Dr. Julian Vasquez-Heilig (California State University), Craig Rothmeier (Make Education a Priority), Kathryn Freman (Christian Life Commission), Marisa Bono (MALDEF), and Jolene Sanders (Parent Advocate).

Location: Texas State Capitol Building – 1100 Congress Ave. – Austin, Texas  (Meeting is in the Capitol Extension Auditorium – Floor E1).

Time:  1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
