The Coalition for Public Schools stands strong in our efforts to ensure that ALL Texas children receive the opportunity for a quality, public education. Who We Are: Founded in 1995, the Coalition for Public Schools is comprised of religious, child advocacy, and education organizations representing more than 3,000,000 Texans statewide. The Coalition opposes the expenditure of public funds to support private and religious schools through mechanisms such as tuition vouchers, tax credits and other types of vouchers. The Coalition supports school choice options within Texas public schools, including approaches such as magnet schools, open-enrollment campuses, and public school transfers. We believe vouchers are a political distraction from the state’s top priority: providing high quality neighborhood public schools that meet the educational needs of every Texas child. Our Mission: The Coalition for Public Schools believes every young Texan deserves the opportunity for a quality public education, as guaranteed by the Texas Constitution. We stand united in support of our neighborhood public schools. Our state’s future is linked to the success of each and every child attending our Texas public schools. We oppose the diversion of public funds to private schools and efforts to seize our public schools from local communities. The Coalition will fight for our public school students for generations to come.
